Pulling weeds

I have been pulling weeds the past couple of days. I wish I had been sewing, but there are certain things that have to be taken care of first.

I am not fond of pulling weeds. I don't mind the dirt under my fingernails. I don't mind the monotony of pulling weeds, in fact, I find it rather zen like. What bothers me about weed pulling is what I must look like to our neighbors. Yeah, that's right, I worry about what the neighbors think when they see me.

In this house we have a saying, "Crack is bad." We are not just talking about the drug! I worry that when I bend over folks see more than they bargained for! So I work hard to position my body so that my arse is not prominent. Crazy, I know.

We are getting a nice bit of sunshine today, so I thought I would take a few more photos of the house.

Here are a few shots of the sun room.

I love this room. My goal is to have it filled with various greenery. I recently made slip covers for the wicker furniture and I am in the process of making accent pillows. I want to slip cover the chairs that sit around the table also.

We are hoping for nice weather tomorrow. It is the 100th anniversary of the gift of the Cherry Blossom Trees in D.C. The trees are supposed to be at their peak today. I will take lots of photos to share.

What are your plans for the weekend? Hope you have a good one!

I Don't Want To

I have a bad case of the "I Don't Want To" syndrome today. I have a long list of things that I should do, but just can't get myself going.

Part of the reason is that I am tired, bone tired. I am also alone in the house again. Big has gone back to work and The Baby has gone back to school. I love my alone time, don't get me wrong, but the first day or so of being alone again is hard.

So, I have decided to show you a couple photos.

This is our new house. It is a big one! We had decided to look for a smaller house, but just couldn't find one we were in love with. I was hoping to take some photos inside, but it is very grey outside today. As soon as we get some sun, I will shoot some inside photos.

Here is a shot of Big's arm. This was taken the day after the surgery. She now has the sling off and boy is she happy about that! She has a molded half cast and it is held on by wrapping it. We went to the Doctor yesterday and I was able to see the scar. It is big, but not too ugly!

I have busy craft/sewing wise. One of the things I have been getting into is machine embroidery. Our real estate agent brought this purse to me and I embroidered her monogram on it. It was fun. I think I will monogram more things. Monogramming is very popular in this area, what about where you are?

Well, I am off to attempt to accomplish something before the day is over! Hope you had a great weekend!

House Photos

I wanted to show you all a few photos of the house. I decided to start with my sewing room. Please forgive the mess. I have actually been sewing and loving every minute of it. The walls are a really bad pepto bismol pink. They need to a paint job! I am not sure if I want to have walls that are a soft pink or a soft green. Blue is also in the running.

I am not sure I like the layout yet. I think I have to work in the space a little longer. I do enjoy being able to work on more than one machine at a time. What do you guys think? I would love to hear your opinions.

You can take Big out of the Prison, but you can't take the Prison out of Big

I told Big that I had started to blog again. She was happy that I was connecting with my blog friends again.

I then told her that I was trying to post a link that had photos of our house on it. Here is how the conversation went:

Me: I started blogging again and couldn't remember how to post a link.

Big: Link about what?

Me: The real estate link about our house! (I was excited at this point)

Big: WHAT?!?!?! You were going to post a link with our address in it?

Me: Sure, whatever. The real estate agent takes better photos than me!

Big: Do you know that people would know our address? Do you know that inmates can come to our house and do horrible things, blah, blah, blah (at this point, I quit listening).

Me: But you work in an office now!

Big: Doesn't matter....blah, blah, blah

At this point I decided to go around the house and take photos on my own. (If you want the link to see the real estate photos, just e-mail me. Just don't tell Big!)

This is a photo of the kitchen! Just ignore the crazy looking people in the photo. In case you are wondering who they are: (Standing left to right) Marshall's Mom, My Mom and Me. (Sitting left to right) the most beautiful Baby, Marshall and Marshall's brother. It is really strange, Marshall's brother looks like my brother when he was younger!

I promise to take photos of the house and post them soon. Big is recovering from a surgery she had yesterday. She ripped her tricep muscle and had to have it re-attached! We will have The Baby home for Spring Break and I am so excited!

Hope you all are having a great week!

New Home

Well, I was going to show you a few photos of our new house. Sorry to say, you will have to wait. I guess I have been away from blogger so long that I have forgotten how to post links! Oh well, be patient. Photos will be posted soon.

Since I can't show you a photo of the house, I thought I would post one of The Baby and my Mom. This photo was taken in January of this year, while we were in El Paso for my Mom's 80th. My Mom looks pretty good for an 80 year old!

I think The Baby looks pretty darn good too!Pin It Now!

MIA

I can't believe it has been so long since I last posted. So many things were happening in my life, that I felt blogging had to go to the bottom of the list. I am finally feeling like myself and will begin to blog on a regular basis again.

Here are the highlights of my life over the last few months:

1.) Big got a promotion
2.) The baby went to South America to study for 5 months
3.) We sold our house in West Virginia
4.) We moved to Virginia (just south of Washington D.C.)
5.) We lived in a hotel for two months while trying to buy a house
6.) We moved into our new house in the beginning of November
7.) The baby came home
8.) The baby's boyfriend and his family came to visit for Thanksgiving
9.) Christmas celebration!
10.) My Mother turned 80 in January and the baby and I traveled to Texas to celebrate

At times I was sane, at times I was insane. I was not always a nice person to be around.

I realize now that I should have continued to blog. My blog friends are supportive and non-judgemental. I just didn't have the energy. There were days that it took all I had to get out of bed.

I feel as close to "normal" as I have ever been and am ready to reconnect! I look forward to getting back in touch with every one and hopefully making some new friends!
